What we say:

"Along came a Spyder and scared her absolutely witless with its speed and noise"

What is it ?

A Post-scalping baby lambo. But the Huracan Spyder is more than that - its the successor to the drop-top Gallardo, Sant'Agata's most successful, numerous model ever. Of course, since the gallardo showed up, the small matter of McLaren and Audis R8 have arisen, not to mention ever-more crackers Porsche Turbos also entering the baby sepercare arena. So the Hurcans wading into battle armed with a rare thing these days : a naturally aspirated V10 engine, good for 602bhp and a 201mph top speed with the roof down. Theres no faster or more fun way to get tinnitus.

The spectacular triple-layer fabric top folds away in 17 seconds at up to 31mph, and the droppable rear window returns so there’s no barrier to V10 histrionics even if you’re battling typical British summertime weather.

Driving :

... Isn't really the point. And that's not the usual road testing sneer over very fast, extrovert cabrios even lamborghini it self says the Huracan Spyder is a lifestyle car, aimed at customers who wouldn't even consider 120kg lighter, 0.4sec faster to 62mph coupe, let alone a ferrari or McLaren. Think of the spyder more as pedestal for the glorious 5.2-litre v10. You, your passenger and everyone else in a five mile radius are an appreciation society for the baleful snarl of an,
If you’re really concerned with the last word in driving minutiae, take note that the weight penalty has taken the edge off the accelerative rush, the gearbox is a peach, the ride is too brittle in Corsa mode, and the optional Dynamic Steering still feels rubbery. Apparently customers adore it, with around 90 per cent of buyers choosing to spec the variable ratio system for better in-town manoeuvrability. Just the place to deploy over 600bhp…

On The Inside :

Exactly as per the coupe – toggle switches, many hexagonal buttons and the most sciatica-inducing seats currently fitted to a road-going vehicle, if you option the admittedly sexy-looking carbon chairs. The fabric roof doesn’t flap at all, and though you lose any semblance of aft-seat storage, the pay-off is a retractable rear window that allows unadulterated access to the V10 even when you’ve chickened out of al fresco motoring.

Owning :

The price premium over the fixed-head car is £20,000 which is an absolutely insane amount of money for the privilege of a draughtier cabin. Saying that, the old cliché of ‘if you can afford it, you won’t notice the extra’ rings more true with a Lamborghini than it does just about anywhere else. So, 23.0mpg and 280g/km (or about 8mpg if you get stuck in) aren’t likely to worry anyone in the market either. They’ll also likely add in a five figure sum’s worth of options too, just for good measure. Hey, it’s that sort of car, those sorts of buyers.
